ÅF: ÅF wins 3,5 million Euro consulting contract for a biomass power
plant project in Kuopio Finland

ÅF's Finnish subsidiary ÅF-Enprima Oy has been chosen as the
engineering consult for the new biomass power plant to the city of
Kuopio, Finland. This contract strengthens ÅF's position further as
the leading engineering consultant for biomass power plants in North
Europe.

Kuopion Energia, the municipal power company of the city has started
a project to build a new 40 MW CHP power plant in Kuopio. The power
plant will be fuelled with biomass and peat. The new power plant will
replace the oldest unit in Haapaniemi power plant which has been
built in 1972.

ÅF's consulting assignment commences immediately with
pre-engineering. At this phase the final plant location and layout,
fuel mixes, technology choices, implementation time table and
detailed investment budget will be finalised. The CHP plant will
generate 80 MW district heat and 40 MW power for the municipal
utility Kuopio Energy. The plant is intended to be taken into
operation in 2010.
