Consultancy services for feasibility studies and project engineering for transmission lines and substations in Kenya

Description of Project:
Studies for expansion of the Kenyan High Voltage Grid by constructing the following additional transmission lines and related substations:
- New 220 kV transmission line from Kisumu through Kakamega to Musaga (72 km) and related substations
- New 132 kV transmission line from Webuye through Kimilili to Kitale (73 km) and related substations
- New 132 kV transmission line from Kakamega to Kaimosi (25 km) and related substations
- New 132 kV transmission line from Sotik to Kilgoris (48 km) and related substations
ÅF's services:
- Analysis of the technical features of the national transmission grid, circuit diagrams, latest load flow diagrams
- Site visit to the proposed substations, ascertaining the locations of the S/S
- Network studies ( load flow, short circuit etc.) for planned grid extensions
- Detailed technical studies of the line routes, project descriptions
- Design of towers and substations
- Costing of the projects including foreign and local portion, disbursement plan per sub-project
- Economic and financial analysis; economic and financial viability assessment of the project including tariffs
- Environmental survey
- Investigation of associated digital communication facilities by fibre optics
- Preparation of Technical Specifications and Bidding Documents for selected packages
