Description of project:
The run-of-river scheme is in the feasibility phase with the main headworks being situated on the Rioni River while using the Lukhoni River as an additional catchment to maintain a daily storage for 8 hours of peaking operation. The plant includes 2 x 77 MW Francis units and a 13 km long headrace tunnel, 6.4 m in diameter, with a gross head of 144 m and design discharge of 120 m3/s to generate an annual production of 617 GWh. The total investment costs are estimated to be 260 mEUR.
