Umami, Hallonbergen

Over a ten-year period, the Hallonbergen area north of Stockholm will be transformed into an inspiring urban district with a wide range of housing, businesses, restaurants, meeting places and intimate squares. ÅF’s architectural firm sandellsandberg has developed a proposal that is aimed at revitalizing and strengthening the identity of the area, centred around the former Freden warehouse building. The existing building’s mid-section will be revamped to allow for a central axle that will link the Hallonbergen metro station to the city hall, which will in turn create the conditions for a well defined urban community.
This is a complex project where ÅF’s architects are working on many scales – urban development, housing, commercial space, cultural institutions – and with a proposal that the Royal Opera also locate activities in the area.
