Lena Henriksson

At the end of this month I will celebrate my 20th anniversary in the automotive industry. I started in October 1995, doing electronic drawings for a Spanish supplier and from that day I have been a part of the exciting and fast-moving automotive industry.

What made you choose the automotive industry?

I was born, went to school and lived in a town with its own car factory. Getting into the automotive business was a natural choice.

How has your career at ÅF developed?

I have been encouraged and supported by ÅF to take on new challenges and assignments. It is an advantage to have a broad and experienced organisation behind you. If you run into professional issues that you do not know how to solve, you will most likely find someone within the ÅF organisation who has experienced something similar.

What are you doing at the Moment?

I am the Feature Team Leader for Vehicle Functions, which means I’m leading a team with a mix of interactions designers, system- and test engineers developing HMI fora new product.

What motivates you in your work?

I want to achieve goals, be part of the process and see the progress. I want to exceed the customer’s expectations, both externally and internally.

As a woman, how does it feel to work in a male-dominated industry?

For me it has mostly been an advantage to be a woman in the automotive business. My impression is that it is easier to be heard and remembered as woman in a male-dominated profession.
