SHPP Schils
Conception Studies and Basis Design for the rehabilitation of the 4 SHPPs of EW Schils in Switzerland.

Description of project:
In 2015 ÅF finished the conceptual feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the small power plants of EW Schils. These power plants consists of 8 various turbines in 5 different places with a total capacity of 8.4 MW. Further the systems contents a storage with a volume of totally 40’000 m3, various penstocks and a surge chamber.
ÅF investigated in total 7 concepts with the goal to increase electricity production as also to simplify the total system in a cost efficient manner. Hereby we used a multi-criteria analysis. Finally ÅF has presented a concept, which reduces the total system to two power plants with a total capacity of 10.2 MW and an increased annual production of 44.3 GWh (plus 13 %).
ÅF has been assigned to prepare the preliminary design study for the chosen concept.
