Description of project:
The 71 MW Sada Mangder Hydro Power Project is located in the West District of Sikkim. The project utilizes the waters of the Rangit and Relli Rivers and includes two dams that provide peaking storage.
The Sada segment of the project comprises a gravity dam, a single opening intake structure, a headrace tunnel and an inclined pressure shaft. The Mangder segment of the project comprises an arch gravity dam, a single opening intake structure and a pressure shaft.
The two project components separately feed an underground powerhouse located in a cavern with a circular tailrace tunnel that feeds back into the Rangit River.
