Nant de Drance PSPP
Project management and design of the 900 MW Nant de Drance pumped storage facility in Switzerland

Description of project:
The Nant de Drance pumped storage facility (900 MW) was designed to exploit part of the enormous hydroelectric potential of the Swiss Alps. The plant makes use of a vertical difference of more than 350 metres between two existing reservoirs connected by a system of water galleries. The powerhouse cavern is 52 m high, 32 m wide and 190 m long and houses six 150 MW pump turbines.
Project period: 2005 – ongoing. Commissioning is foreseen by the end of 2019 – beginning of 2020.
