Upgrading of water treatment plant.

BillerudKorsnäs is a leading provider of renewable packaging material and wanted to upgrade their water treatment plant in Skärblacka, Sweden. The production unit in Skärblacka develops and produces everything from strong, porous sack paper to fluting and white MG kraft paper.

The existing plant was partly more than 50 years old and maintenance was costly. According to the customer, failure or other disruptions in the waterworks would cause acute impact on virtually all of the mill's production. This was confirmed by the implemented risk analyses which also did show that the measures at the waterworks had to be a priority.

ÅF initiated a pre-engineering project to develop an action plan for the upgrade. The engineering report included technical description and cost estimate of the required upgrade of the water treatment plant.
