Boliden
Garpenberg 2,5MT - expansion of Sweden's oldest mine to make it one of the most cost effective and modern mines.
Background
In Sweden´s oldest mine, Garpenberg outside Hedemora, Boliden set their goal some years back to almost double it´s production. The expansion will increase the production from 1,4 to 2,5 million tonnes in 2015 and make Garpenberg one of the worlds most cost effective and modern mines. Today, Garpenberg mine produces complex ores containing zinc, lead, silver, copper, and gold. This expansion means that production lifetime will last to 2030, at least.
