Water and Waste Water Planning

What will water supplies and waste water management be like in 20-30 years? An effective water and waste water system is important for both current and future needs.

Those responsible for a public water and waste water system need to work continuously on long-term planning of operations so that it is adapted to current requirements, social development, effectiveness and security of delivery. The starting point is that water and waste water supplies in a municipality are based on a water infrastructure that is very much a long-term system worthy of protection that has to be managed and improved.

The purpose of ongoing water and waste water planning is to provide guiding base data for decision-making in the areas of land and water utilisation, renewal planning and water and waste water expansion.

The regulatory framework is being developed continuously in order to protect the environment and our most important food – drinking water. All in all, this results in increasingly complicated cases relating to water and waste water issues in municipalities, both in direct water and waste water cases and in preliminary rulings and planning projects. Furthermore, inspections of municipal water and waste water plants are subject to demands for good base data and clear prioritisation of maintenance and measures.

What do we do in the field of Water and Waste Water Planning?

We are very familiar with regulations, technology and system perspectives in the area of water and waste water, which means that we can undertake assignments that encompass the water and waste water supplies for a whole municipality. We perform a status and needs assessment of the whole water and waste water area, i.e. drinking water, waste water, surface water and drainage water, which provides a basis for the development of strategic choices and different kinds of water and waste water plans. In this work we coordinate base data and decision-making processes, conduct investigations and cost calculations, hold courses for individuals concerned and provide support in communication with authorities, politicians and the public.
