Scandic Hotel’s first signature hotel in Finland
The building and legendary hotel from the 60’s has undergone a total renovation and will reopen as the first signature hotel of Scandic Hotels in Finland. It is an inviting hotel with an international vibe and true devotion to bring out an individual character and unique identity in the heart of Helsinki.
The interior design of the hotel is created by the Swedish architecture office Koncept, the architects behind Haymarket by Scandic in Stockholm.
– The beautiful Finnish nature combined with the love for local design and modern urban city life in Helsinki, has been a big source of inspiration for us. It’s all about contrasts creating balance and energy in a Finnfulness way” says Johannes Sverlander, Architect and Project Manager at Koncept.
Colors and materials are sprung from the dark green Finnish forests, the thousands of lakes and the warm colors of the sunset. Light wooden floors are combined with grey stone that reminds you of the cliffs in the Finnish archipelago. The furniture design is a high-quality mix of Finnish modern design and influences from abroad. It has a residential feeling where design and art connect to the local design scene.
The hotel creates the perfect mix for locals and hotel guests to experience a vibrant cultural scene, including both performance art, exhibitions and the latest trends within experimental food and beverage. This is not a new regular hotel; this is a brand-new social venue where you will experience something new, probably more than once.
– We have designed the hotel to become a social and bustling meeting place, both for the Helsinki crowd and hotel guests. The first thing you meet when entering the hotel is the vibrant Marski Bar. And all the venues - bar, coffee shop, restaurant and Meeting Studio interact with great visibility, in between each other and towards the street. It’s like a friendly, inspiring living room, in the heart of the city, where you can eat, meet, work, relax and drink the best coffee and cocktails”, says Ann Marie Ekroth, Architect and Creative Director at Koncept.
Marski by Scandic opens up the 3rd of June and will include the coffee shop 7,01 –with the best coffee in the city, the restaurant Kuusi Palaa – a new food destination, Marski Bar – a vibrant cocktail bar, and The Meeting Studio – for inspiring meetings and events. 300 residential hotel rooms, spa and gym. And of course, some of the hotel suites have saunas, all for your authentic Finnfulness experience.
