Charlotte Eriksson

ÅF invests heavily in innovative and exciting IT projects. Many of them are confidential, but a look behind the scenes reveals projects that involve everything from self-driving cars to app-controlled homes.

Charlotte Eriksson is marketing area manager in ÅF’s IT consulting business. She works with about 1,200 consultants in IT and product development as well as many exciting clients. Since ÅF is a consulting company, we have no products of our own. Instead, we help clients develop innovative solutions for the challenges ahead.

Can you give some examples of projects you work on?

“It’s difficult to be specific with the details as innovative projects are often confidential. But they’re really exciting projects, including self-driving cars, climate-friendly energy solutions and app-controlled housing. Without revealing too much, I dare say that we will have a hand in much of the online and digital communities of the future.”

What are the ingredients that make a project innovative?

“It’s obviously all about the project and the client. We always work closely with our clients to find a clear path forward. But the shared experience and initiative of our consultants is just as important.”

Why is ÅF an innovative workplace?

“With ÅF’s 100+ years as a company and its 7,500 employees, there is a rich source of knowledge to draw from. We work constantly with sharing all this knowledge within ÅF so that every individual can develop and innovate.”

How do you do it?

“A lot of innovation and development occurs, of course, in our projects, in encounters between ÅF and its clients. We also have lots of courses and competence groups for those who work at ÅF, and a lot of great projects that are launched by enthusiasts within the company. They can be about absolutely anything, from building a robot to compete in the Robot Olympics to developing an app for finding nearby colleagues.”

What’s the best thing about working at ÅF?

“There are many good things about the job, but the coolest thing about ÅF is still the breadth. A colleague compared ÅF with a mountain range: We have the peaks, the areas of expertise where we are the best, but also the breadth of an entire mountain range. We create the infrastructure, buildings, energy solutions, manufacturing systems, vehicles and mobile systems of the future and all the technology that lets them communicate with each other.
