The Vega district is located in the Municipality of Haninge and is divided into four zoning plans. With the character of a garden city and closeness to both nature and the vibrant urban scene in downtown Stockholm, the municipality wants to attract people to settle in the area.

On behalf of the Municipality of Haninge, ÅF has designed and engineered tender enquiry documents for the first zoning plan, which has included streetscapes and three parks.

Close collaboration between different competencies

The project included the design of streetscapes and three parks, of which one is in the nature of a small plaza. This work has been carried out in close collaboration with ÅF’s competencies in areas like water and wastewater, roads, lighting, electrical engineering, geotechnical engineering and landscape architecture.

Garden city feeling

The street environment has been designed with rows of trees that reinforce the street hierarchy and contribute to the desired garden city feeling. The parks will function as meeting points in the area.

Accessibility and functionality features were an integral part of the design process. The expression in the different environments is held together by the choice of materials, furnishings and lighting, even though their characters differ.
