The customer wanted software and related services that would provide scope to optimize quality, save time and reduce costs in tunnelling within the framework of a larger multi-year infrastructure project.
Initially, we performed a needs analysis via workshops together with the customer, where the most critical functions for a software solution for tunnelling projects were identified. A specification of requirements was formulated and served as a basis for tender documents for delivery of a software solution with related services for tunnelling.
Strategic players in the industry were invited to submit tenders. The evaluation was carried out using a model that weighed together the technical, financial, coordination-related and developmental aspects. In addition to the written tenders, information was gathered through half-day seminars aimed at gaining a better picture of the technology and people behind them. After the selection process was completed, agreements were drawn up and contracts were signed with the best supplier based on the set requirements.
The project resulted in the procurement of a market-leading software solution and related services for tunnelling. The software that was ordered offered the highest technical performance in combination with the most favourable total economy over the course of the entire project. Furthermore, the winning supplier was deemed to have best experience and ability to offer the most attractive range of services during operation of the software.
