Innovative thinking, a focus on sustainability and solar power were vital ingredients.
The municipality of Kungälv sets exacting environmental standards for new builds. When it was to build the Munkegärde preschool, ÅF was entrusted with carrying out the pre-study and design and producing a subcontractor. For the first time, the municipality built a two-storey preschool – with 230 sq m of solar cells on its roof. The solution entails many benefits, not least in terms of cost. For one thing, you double the amount of square metres per surface area, and for another, energy consumption is substantially reduced. The preschool was also built according to passive house standards and all building materials were tested according to the Sunda Hus system.
