The Bai Bang pulp and paper mill in Vinh Phu province, Vietnam, is to be modernised and extended. The plant is the largest of its kind in Vietnam, with a totally integrated production process based on supplies of fast-growing trees harvested from domestic plantations. As part of an investment programme amounting to around SEK 500 million, production of writing paper and newsprint at the plant is to be doubled to approximately 100,000 tonnes at the same time as the environmental impact of operations is reduced.
The ÅF Group has been invited by the supplier of the pulp mill plant, Elof Hansson, and one of the suppliers in the consortium, to assume responsibility for planning, managing and administering the project. This assignment involves almost 20,000 consulting hours and opens the door to options for a number of future assignments.
The ÅF Group also played a role in setting up the original Bai Bang mill in the 1980s.
