Through its subsidiary, ÅF-Industriteknik, the ÅF Group has acquired 3D Teknik AB in Göteborg, Sweden. 3D Teknik markets user licences for SolidEdge - a program for computerised 3-dimensional design and construction (CAD) - and services linked to this.
The acquisition enables the ÅF Group to expand its sale of licences and further develop its consulting business in the CAD/CAM* sector, by adding a new area of technical expertise to ÅF-Industriteknik's portfolio of services.
"The acquisition strengthens us in the CAD/CAM sphere, making the Group an important supplier of licences, training and support," says Eskil Larsson, Managing Director of ÅF Industriteknik. "We also envisage obvious synergies with other areas of business, such as product development, which will also be of benefit to our clients."
"The merger is a good move both for 3D Teknik and for our customers," says Johan Landergren at 3D Teknik. "The strength and breadth of the ÅF Group's resources, together with the fact that the group has offices all over Sweden, will be invaluable in helping us to develop our business."
* CAM (Computer Assisted Manufacturing) refers to the use of a computer to control or assist in the manufacturing process using data generated by CAD (Computer Assisted Design) software.
