Through its subsidiary company ÅF-Systemdesign, the ÅF Group has acquired a 30 percent share in the computer consulting company Calvia Datakonsult AB, which has around 50 employees in and around Göteborg in western Sweden. The majority of the shares acquired have been bought from Calvia's employees. ÅF-Systemdesign has also been given an option that involves the right, without obligation, to acquire the remaining shares in the company by the cut-off date of 30 June 2005.
This acquisition reinforces the ÅF Group in the IT sphere in western Sweden. Calvia Datakonsult's customers include AstraZeneca, Autoliv, the housing company Bostadsbolaget i Göteborg, Carmen, Ecovision, Ericsson, Göteborg University, the Municipality of Kungsbacka, NMCT, PilotFish, SAAB Ericsson Space, Scania, Stena, Vinga System and Volvo.
"Coming hard on the heels of the takeover of Communicator, the acquisition of a share in Calvia Datakonsult means that the ÅF Group's systems development resources have increased by almost 150 people. This represents yet another step in the Group's strategy for growth in the IT consulting business", comments Magnus Ankarstrand, Managing Director for ÅF-Systemdesign.
"Merging with the ÅF Group in this way does a great deal to strengthen our position in the Göteborg region," says Calvia Datakonsult's Managing Director, Thommy Johansson.
Calvia Datakonsult will operate as a subsidiary to ÅF-Systemdesign and will change its name to ÅF-Calvia.
