ÅF-Group supplies traffic simulators to the Finnish Railways

"The demand for increased capacity on the railway network has made it imperative to be able to simulate both changes in infrastructure and everyday events and interruptions in order to see how these affect traffic," explains Johnny Rudolf, Business Area Manager and responsible for the development of simulators in the ÅF-Group.

Simulation technology noticeably reduces the total investment needed for infrastructure.

The present system has been developed together with the Swedish National Rail Administration and is used not only by them but also by the Öresund Consortium, responsible for the new bridge under construction across The Sound (Öresund) between Sweden and Denmark.

ÅF-Industriteknik has 15-20 years of experience in working with simulators, operation analysis methods and flow analyses in different sectors. The trend is for simulators in the traffic segment to be used not only to analyse major investments, but also for direct connection to practical operations as a way of providing much better documentation on which operators and those responsible for infrastructure can base their decisions.
