ÅF wins design competition for new university hospital in Stockholm

ÅF wins design competition for new university hospital in Stockholm

ÅF is part of the project group that has won the architectural design competition for the new university hospital to be built on the site of the current Karolinska University Hospital and the Karolinska Institutet Medical University in Solna, Stockholm. The project as a whole represents an investment of approximately SEK 8 billion (EUR 860 million).

The competition was arranged by the property management company Locum AB on behalf of Stockholm County Council.

The winning consortium consists of White Arkitekter, ÅF and Ramböll, with ÅF assuming responsibility for the technical installations and energy solutions in the new facility.

The next stage is for the project group to produce complete bidding documentation, which is to be ready by the end of 2007. Then a formal decision can be taken with regard to the forthcoming project engineering work.

Some 15 consultants from ÅF will be working with the project documentation in the period up until December 2007. A project office will be established at White Arkitekter's premises to shorten communication paths within the group and rationalise day-to-day work.
