ÅF awarded two new natural gas assignments by E.ON

The ÅF Group has been commissioned by E.ON Sverige to conduct detailed project planning work for natural gas pipelines between the cities of Linköping and Norrköping, south-west of Stockholm. The assignment forms part of a project known in Sweden as Naturgas Mellansverige (Central Sweden Natural Gas). The 70-kilometre pipeline includes a number of stations for measuring and regulating gas in the region's natural gas grid.

ÅF consultants have been engaged to provide expertise in areas such as surveying, geotechnics, archaeology and pipeline planning, and to assist in drafting and producing documentation for tendering and construction. Work on the assignment is already under way and is scheduled for completion in April 2006.

The ÅF Group has also been commissioned to carry out preliminary project planning work for natural gas pipelines along the approximately 140 kilometre long Västerås to Grycksbo stretch, also part of the Naturgas Mellansverige project.

The assignment calls for expertise in route planning, environmental impact analysis, geotechnics, archaeology and liaison services that include contacts with landowners along the proposed route. Work begins in October and will result in an application for a concession by December 2006.

The ÅF Group recently completed the preliminary project planning and pre-engineering phases for the Boxholm to Norrköping stretch of the pipeline for E.ON. This work culminated in an application for a concession, which has been presented to the Swedish government for consideration.
