Ångpanneföreningen's Foundation for Research & Development (Ångpanneföreningens Forskningsstiftelse) was established in 1985 as an independent, but strong and influential stakeholder in Ångpanneföreningen. The foundation exists to support developments in technology, safety, quality and the indoor and natural environment, and to promote the efficient use of energy in industry and elsewhere. The foundation's main asset is its shareholding in ÅF AB. The foundation's board includes directors appointed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (IVA), the Swedish Forest Industries Association and the Association of Swedish Power Producers.
