ÅF won an engineering contract for a large biofuel fired boiler plant.
ÅF will provide piping, ducting and equipment engineering to Kvaerner Power Oy for a large biofuel fired boiler plant being built close to the town of Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The project gives a workload of approximately 80 manmonths and will start on 2 January 2007. The engineering will be carried out by ÅF in Kouvola.
The new boiler plant will increase the capacity of the power plant owned by Övik Energy AB, and will also lead to a significant increase in the use of biofuels. The power boiler utilises bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) combustion technology, it will have a steam capacity of 130 megawatts and steam data of 540ºC and 139 bar. The new boiler plant will be ready in late 2008.
