QIS – Quality Information System – From data to quality-assured information
Customers, society, staff members and owners have increasingly high requirements and expectations for the quality of products and for the company itself. The company is thus forced to plan more carefully, make more measurements, control more closely, analyse and report more often.
Today there are so many measurements on such complex systems that it is becoming ever more difficult to fault trace. It can often be difficult to see, based on the end results, what errors might be hidden inside the individual measured values.
The importance of information quality assurance has therefore increased, in particular of those measured values that arrive every minute from the process.
- QIS continuously handles incoming data, makes comparisons between them and against historical values, compares different data sources and uses chemical and physical connections.
- QIS questions data, and if any deviates from a given norm, provides an immediate warning to the person who is responsible for the data source.
- QIS minimises the risk of incorrect information in reports and thereby prevents time-consuming follow-up work.
- QIS does not eliminate errors, but mistakes are indicated and replaced by the most correct available values.
