StarTrim – trim optimisation at its best
StarTrim is ÅF's system for planning and optimisation when it comes to the order-specific cutting of material from rolls, such as paper, sheet metal, aluminium, plastic and various types of fibres and textiles.
StarTrim is one of the market's most modern trim optimisation systems. It runs in the Microsoft.NET environment and is a further development of the StarTrim concept with the same powerful mathematical algorithms that have been used in industry since the beginning of the 1980s. During the development of the New StarTrim emphasis was placed on the way the users work, and the system has been designed on this basis in order for it to be simple and easy to use, while improving performance and increasing review possibilities. A reference group of seven planners from different production units took part in both the definition of requirements and the testing of the new system.
What can StarTrim do for my production unit?
- Less waste Depending on the current material utilisation, StarTrim can help you to increase it by several percentage points. Since this is a continuous process that is optimised, relatively small improvements can often be made that in return save millions every year.
- Fewer resets. StarTrim actively works to minimise, for example, machine resetting. Our experience has shown that in some cases improvements of over 25% can be made by releasing manufacturing capacity.
- Faster planning StarTrim is an effective tool for planners. The system has several functions that are specially developed for minimising the time users spend on planning. This means that planning can begin later, while freeing up time for planners to use their professional skills and experience in solving more overall and long-term planning problems.
