ÅF-Kontroll is accredited by the Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC) to carry out design reviews and manufacturing inspections in accordance with, for example:
- The directives issued by the Swedish Work Environment Authority relating to pressure vessels and other pressure-bearing devices
- The directives issued by the Swedish National Inspectorate of Explosives and Flammables relating to open storage tanks and pipelines for flammable liquids and to natural gas
- The directives issued by the Swedish Rescue Services Agency relating to tanks and pressure vessels for the transportation of dangerous goods
- Lifting equipment
- Inspections on steel erections
To support us in this work we have a large number of computational programs including ANSYS, EUROPIPE, AUTOPIPE, ÅF-PIPE and MATHCAD.
We can also perform calculations in accordance with non-Swedish norms such as ASME, AD-Merkblatt, BS and SFS.
ÅF-Kontroll is also a "notified body" with regard to the new pressure vessel directive 97/23/EG (PED). This means that our work is recognised and accepted throughout the entire European Union without the need for any supplementary inspections.
ÅF-Kontroll collaborates with a number of notified bodies outside Sweden. This facilitates our work on assignments covering two or more countries.
