CAE engineers structural durability and safety, Automotive R&D

About the company

ÅF is an engineering and design company within the fields of energy, industry and infrastructure. We create sustainable solutions for the next generation through talented people and technology. We are based in Europe and our business and clients are found all over the world.

ÅF Making Future.

About the job

Many persons think ÅF is just about technology. Our story though is mainly about the people – Brave engineers, Project leaders, Visionary leaders and Specialists working together to find new and sustainable solutions for generations to come. We want to make a difference providing our customers with solutions that add value.

Within ÅF Automotive R&D, we develop and deliver solutions for vehicles, systems, functions and attributes to clients in the automotive industry. Our clients are both established OEM’s, startup companies and system suppliers (Tier 1). We operate all over the world; mainly in Sweden, China, Brazil, US and UK.

In the department CAE & Safety, you will be part of the team that performs FEM, MBD and CFD analysis to develop the performance and attributes of vehicles and systems of the future. We work mainly in inhouse projects for global clients, where we deliver complete solutions including both design and analysis.

We now look for one or two CAE engineers with main focus on structural analysis and crash simulation. We work on all systems of a vehicle, such as chassis structures, wheel suspension and body structure, as well as on complete vehicle level. Your analyses can be mainly focused on non linear analysis, optimization, fatigue or safety analysis, depending on your competence and experience. You communicate your results to the design engineers, either they sit next to you in the office, or at the client on the other side of the world.

You will join a global team where you also get the opportunity to work in other areas of the world as resident engineer at our clients, if that would be of interest for you.

Who are you?

You are a brave and devoted team player with extensive knowledge in strength analysis or crash safety analysis. You have the experience and competence to assemble larger structures, perform common vehicle system related load cases and to correlate simulation to physical tests. You have some years of experience from working in vehicle projects, communicating with attribute leaders, design engineers etc, in order to improve the durability performance. You use tools like Abaqus, Optistruct or LS Dyna on a daily basis. No challenge is too great and your mindset is always to add value to our clients. You believe the best vehicle is not yet developed, as it will be part of your next assignment at ÅF Automotive R&D.

Your academic background is a Master degree from applied mechanics, applied physics, structural engineering or similar. Very important is your understanding of how to interpret simulation results and communicate them in a clear way to others. Your business English is fluent both verbally and in writing and you communicate easily with both peers and upper management. Being professional is key and you always act upon the best interest of the company. You are  known for your strong integrity and you share ÅF’s view on ethics and values.

We hope that you will get (or already have) a local connection to Trollhättan or the neighbourhood, and that you will see your future life in this area.

We offer

We offer a great career opportunity for the best candidates that want to be part of ÅF’s success story and want to develop in the global automotive industry. We work together in teams and are passionate about technology development. We offer an innovative, dynamic, experienced multi-project environment. We see exciting opportunities in interesting projects as the trend from OEM´s in general is to outsource more and more large projects.
