Volvo places major IT assignment with ÅF Group
Order worth SEK 100 million to the ÅF Group
Tacdis - the Volvo retail organisation's own highly successful, IT-based sales support solution - will continue to be developed and administered by the ÅF Group in West Sweden up until at least 2008. This extends the five-year contract originally signed in 2000 by an extra three years and is worth SEK 100 million to the ÅF Group.
Tacdis is an acronym for Truck and Car Dealers' Information System, and it describes a database that is approximately three times larger than the AltaVista internet search engine.
Tacdis is the lowest common denominator for just about every aspect of information relating to Volvo vehicles, both before and after they are sold. In a sales situation it helps the purchaser to choose the right model, colour, engine, equipment, financing solution, insurance etc. At the workshop it provides support with booking service appointments, carrying out repairs, ordering spare parts, and administering delivery and invoicing routines. All this data is then collated to create a "log-book" for each individual vehicle in which all the relevant information is compiled and stored.
The ÅF Group has been entrusted with the responsibility of administering the system, developing it and launching new versions over the coming years.
"We are extremely proud of the faith that the Volvo dealers have shown in the ÅF Group's ability to maintain and develop major, business-critical IT systems like this," says Jonas Wiström, Managing Director of AB Ångpanneföreningen and CEO of the ÅF Group. "At the same time, the order acknowledges the ÅF Group's long-term commitment to become a leading supplier of IT services in Scandinavia."
