Oslo Airport Connecting Norway

Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) is Norway’s main airport. The airport was opened in 1998, and was originally built for 17 million of passengers a year. In 2014 almost 24 million passengers travelled to and from the airport.

Until recently, all passengers arriving with international flights and who are continuing on domestic flights had to collect and re-check in their luggage when arriving at OSL. In order to improve the passenger experience, OSL established a project to implement a more effective solution for the passengers called Connecting Norway. Connecting Norway allows passengers to go directly from their international flight to their domenstic flight without having to clear luggage through customs.

The project includes both changes to work processes and technical solutions like baggage handling systems, passenger hallways and gates. It also includes changing the operative transfer routines for e.g. the customs and police. ÅF AdvansIT has the Project Manager role for  the project, and is responsible for specification, contracting, modification/development of the IT systems, interfacing, and systems and integration tests. The Project Manager is also responsible for the specification and documentation of the new work processes. Connecting Norway has a budget of approx. 180 million NOK.
