Tušimice Power Plant
Refurbishment of 4 x 200 MW coal fired units power plant in Czech Republic.
Description of project:
Between 2005 and 2012 a complex reconstruction of the Tušimice II Power Plant was carried out. The project was divided into two stages so that two of the units could always remain in operation.
90 % of all technological units were replaced (boilers, turbines, sulfur scrubbers, etc.). Simultaneously a 300-meter chimney was demolished as it was no longer required after the modernization, the exhaust gasses being directed into two out the four cooling towers. The performance of the units was maintained after the reconstruction though the efficiency has increased.
The reconstruction was completed in 2012 and cost about CZK 26 billion. The plant’s life has been increased by 25 years which is also the estimated time of exhaustion of the coal reserves within easy reach of the power plant. Tušimice Power Plant is located in the north of the Czech Republic.
