Owner's Engineering Services for Finland's 5th NPP

Construction of the new unit nr. 3 for Teollisuuden Voima plc’s Olkiluoto Nuclear
Power Plant. This unit with the output of 1,600 MWe is the largest nuclear power unit worldwide.
Description of project:
Phase 1 - licensability and feasibility of the overall I&C architecture for OL3 (2004).
Phase 2 – independent assessment of proposed I&C architecture for OL3 (2009-2010).
ÅF's services:
Owner’s engineering services including project management support; contract management; construction supervision; erection management; design review; independent evaluation of I&C architecture and structural analysis for the internal structures of reactor building and base slab.
Phase 1 - evaluation of the suitability for licensing of Teleperm XS for use as a safety class 2 system; feasibility for licensing Teleperm XP for use as a safety class 3 system; feasibility of the global I&C architecture.
Phase 2 – assessment of the implementation of I&C life cycle requirements and architecture in respect to the risk of plant safety and the risk for licensing.
