Morsleben Radioactive Waste Repository (ERAM)

The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) operates a deep geological repository for radioactive waste in the former rock salt mine Bartensleben in Morsleben, Germany.

Description of project:

Known as the ‘Endlager für Radioaktive Abfälle Morsleben’, or ‘ERAM’, the intention is to close and decommission the repository in the foreseeable future.

For over a decade, ÅF has been tasked with providing the necessary safety assessments for the repository. Included in this long-term, ongoing project, are highly complex numerical simulations and extensive efforts into developing state-of-the art 3D visualization software with interactive information scanning for underground structures.
