Vlora represents young people at the UN

Vlora Makolli, 24 years old and an urban development strategist with ÅF, is passionate about increasing young people’s influence in urban planning.

Since the age of seventeen, Vlora has worked actively for equality and inclusion. For instance, she has engaged in dialogue with residents and young people in various urban development projects in Malmö, to create places where everyone feels welcome and safe, regardless of age and gender.

”In urban development projects, it is important to include all groups among local residents. I am passionate about increasing young people's influence in the world and on urban development, making them a natural part of the dialogue when building and developing cities,” she says.

Vlora holds a bachelor's degree in political science and is now studying law at Lund University. As of spring 2018, she is an urban development strategist at ÅF – working as an advisor in tendering processes, where she adds an important perspective to urban planning.

As an active member of LSU (Sweden's Youth Organizations), Vlora was selected to accompany the Swedish government delegation to the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York, where the Global Sustainability Goals will be followed up.

“At the UN, I will pursue a youth perspective and strive for the buy-in and support of younger citizens,” she says.
