ÅF’s high-rise specialists shape our cities for the future

The major cities in Scandinavia are experiencing a growing need for housing and in the Copenhagen area this has resulted in approval of 49 future high-rise projects in the district plan. ÅF are contributing to several high-rise projects in Copenhagen with our special expertise in high-rise buildings.

One of these projects are Nordbro, which is currently the 4th tallest building in Denmark with its 98 meters and 29 floors. The building will be ready for occupation in fall 2019 and will be a residential complex primarily for students - a population group that is heavily affected by the housing shortage. Furthermore, the top of the building will be a publicly accessible lookout point, the highest in Copenhagen, enriching the urban space of the city.

During the last decade, ÅF has gained unique knowledge within high-rise buildings from a long range of projects in Denmark. Based on years of experience, ÅF has developed a method of calculation for high-rise buildings that provides the customers with:

  • An optimized material consumption
  • Maximum utilization of floor space
  • Improved flexibility
  • A shortened planning phase
  • A shortened construction time

In the coming years, several customers will benefit from this method, as ÅF are currently using their high-rise competencies on Carlsberg Byen (120m), Nordbro (100m), Grønttorvet (80m), Papirtårnet (70m) and Scandic Copenhagen Airport (50m).
