Expertise and experience, gained over more than a century
The increasing need for clean energy through the greater use of hydropower is today a socio-political necessity. The planning, design and construction management of hydro-electric power and multi-purpose projects, including studies to enhance optimum compatibility with the environment and the fulfilment of increasing safety requirements, is our core business.
In the development of new power plants, we provide services such as comprehensive site investigations, environmental impact assessments, energy studies, residual flow studies, licensing applications and project planning, feasibility studies as well as tender design, tender documents. Construction design and supervision, ensuring high quality construction, the use of up-to-date electro-mechanical equipment and components, and innovative design are activities covered by our specialized staff of engineers.
The increasing complexity of our work demands ever greater innovation and adaptability. We use the most modern tools and methods for static and dynamic investigations of hydraulic systems, mathematical modelling of the foundations and superstructures, static and dynamic calculations of constructions as well as for transient calculations.
Our experience encompasses a wide range of conventional plants, from the alpine type with long tunnels and hundreds of metres head, to low run-of-river schemes developing few metres head, both with weirs and dams. Clients can as well, rely on our expert services in dam design based on our 100-years experience.
Over the years, we have developed as well, an extensive know-how in the design and implementation of reversible pumped storage plants.
Many existing power plants need to be rehabilitated and upgraded in view of the increasing energy shortages. We provide our clients with complete renewal concepts and investment planning, renovation of penstocks and the optimization of turbines and electro-mechanical equipment.
