Biomass fuels heat and power production
ÅF was involved in the construction of a new combined heat and power plant in Mölndal, Sweden, by Mölndal Energi AB. Producing electricity and district heating, the biomassfuelled plant is an investment in the future, the climate and a sustainable society.
The new CHP plant has a biomass boiler with a 70MW district heating capacity. An extra 21MW of district heating can be produced through flue gas condensation, plus 23MW electricity by a steam turbine.
ÅF has been involved in the construction of the new CHP plant in Mölndal from the outset. Constructing a new CHP plant is a vast undertaking, and ÅF has fulfilled several roles thanks to its expertise and experience in major energy projects and in constructing new heat and power plants.
