Zlatan Bahtijaragic Idnert is vice Business Area Manager in the Sound and Vibrations sector, where he develops new business opportunities and assignments for the 90 ÅF consultants working in this field. Zlatan’s section is part of a division working with infrastructure, which develops public infrastructure solutions for new roads, new urban developments, etc. Clients include some of Sweden’s largest public authorities as well as companies in the construction, industrial, energy, infrastructure and technology sectors.
How come you are so interested in sound and vibrations?
“It’s an area where the different assignments are extremely varied. We work with pioneering technical solutions in a number of different sectors and we’re a key member of the project engineering and inspection teams for projects both large and small. The work we do – for example, by designing sound environments for residential areas and workplaces – also has a direct impact on people’s everyday lives.”
What is the most recent development in your field?
“I’m a firm believer in our ‘mobile care’ concept, a distance maintenance tool that means we can identify wear in machinery and equipment at a very early stage. This enables customers to plan operations and maintenance much better than they can today. To do this we use unique technology – rather like putting a high-tech ear to the machine to check the state of its health.”
How has your career at ÅF developed?
“I came into the organisation when ÅF took over the company I was working for. A few years later I decided to accept the offer of a job in Dubai. One of the projects I worked on there was the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. When the time came to move back to Sweden, I received offers of work from various companies, but I chose to return to ÅF. For me the decisive factors were the friendly atmosphere among colleagues here and the strong winning culture.”
