Welcome back to ÅF, Gabriel Edelbrock

Gabriel explains why he chose to return to ÅF after a year spent with another company.

Hi Gabriel, and a warm welcome back to ÅF! Could you tell us a little bit about the reasons behind your return?

I decided to leave ÅF in January 2017, when I was offered a job as business area manager for another consultancy firm, in my hometown of Gävle. Their business is primarily focused on product development and mechanical construction within the steel industry. While it was admittedly a stimulating and developing managerial post, I missed two things; ÅF’s enterprising, robust company culture, and working closer to digitalisation.

Over the summer, I was in touch with one of my former colleagues at ÅF and briefly discussed these concerns and, during the autumn, I was presented with a potential new role in MA ICT & Telecom, one that was so exciting I decided to return.

What was your previous role at ÅF, and what role will you be having now?

My previous position at ÅF was as section manager for Systems Management in Uppsala. The section was mainly comprised of staff working in defence and telecom. During those years, I was also working a good deal with our broadband/fibre optics business, which was enjoying strong growth at that time. A role that I really enjoyed a lot!

My new role is in the same business area, BA Systems Management. I will be a member of the management group for MA ICT & Telecom, where I will work with sales and business development. The plan is that I will work to move our MA sales into high gear, bringing home more new customers and assignments.

What is it about ÅF that attracts you?

Having been on the “outside” for a year, I have realised what an extremely good company ÅF is. Everything from highly ambitious colleagues to the opportunities offered for career development, not to mention all the “fun at work” that comes with employment at ÅF.

How do you think you and your colleagues in the same business area contribute to ÅF’s new Making Future strategy?

To begin with, everyone within MA ICT & Telecom is a “brave and devoted team player” and was so long before the new strategy first saw the light of day. Our primary contribution to the new strategy is to create the preconditions for the digitalisation of our towns and cities, industries and machines. MA ICT & Telecom builds the communications networks that both people and machines need in order for digitalisation to become a reality!
