"Vehicles today contain more and more electronics and software, this makes it a very interesting field to be a part of and I think the future is going to be even more exciting."
My name is David Mella and I work as a development engineer within the automotive industry. I am currently working with electrical propulsion systems and my previous assignments include working with body electronics and infotainment. I have worked in different phases of the development process, right now I’m working as a test engineer but I have also worked as a systems engineer.
How come you are so interested in your specific field of work?
Electronics and computer systems have always fascinated me. Vehicles today contain more and more electronics and software, this makes it a very interesting field to be a part of and I think the future is going to be even more exciting. Software in the automotive industry is getting very complex, so it’s very motivating to be a part its development.
What kind of projects do you work on?
I work on electrical propulsion systems, infotainment and body electronics.
What motivates you in your work?
I like to solve problems and find effective solutions for those problems. It’s also motivating to see a product that I have worked on in real life, especially if the product ends up being exceptional. Not only by my effort of course, but through the hard teamwork of hundreds or thousands of engineers.
Do you have a fun story from previous assignments that you can tell us about?
In the beginning of some projects I have had a very sceptical view. But seeing a product or a project like that go from zero to hero is very fascinating and exciting.
What is your dream assignment or project?
For now I have very little to plans for the future as I am working and have been working within fields that I feel are the future within automotive. Working with electric propulsion or infotainment have been goals and dreams for me and I have achieved both goals within LeanNova/ÅF.
