ÅF Group upgrades district heating grid in Belgrade

The ÅF Group has been commissioned to upgrade and expand the district heating grid in the centre of the Serbian capital, Belgrade. The grid is currently operated by the municipally owned company, Beogradske Elektrane. The undertaking also includes measures to rationalise the operations of the district heating company, for example by introducing new financial routines and invoicing and information systems.
The ÅF Group has won the contract as part of a consortium consisting of ÅF, Göteborg Energi International (Sweden) and the Helm Corporation (Ireland). Work is expected to start in June this year and completion is scheduled for 2005.
The consulting work will be funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The total value of the contract amounts to approximately SEK 28 million, of which the ÅF Group's share will equate to around 25 percent.
