ÅF-International in large assignment for the City of VilniusThe study will be carried out during 1999 and is to be completed at the beginning of November, 1999. The project is financed by Sida and will be implemented by ÅF-International. The contract is worth SEK 7,300,000.
The team of consultants will perform a thorough investigation of VDHC's operations. This includes institutional, organisational, financial and technical aspects. The project will produce proposals for developing and restructuring the operation, including investment alternatives. The objective is to develop the district heating operation so that it will meet the customers' demands and function profitably under market conditions.
The conclusions will be reported in the form of a business development plan for VDHC. The study will serve as a basis for a World Bank decision on whether to finance expansion and restructuring of VDHC.
VDHC's total power and heat capacity in its district heating plants amounts to 2,500 MW. VDHC owns a total of about 8,000 distribution pipes for district heating. It supplies heat to practically all the buildings in the city. The company was founded about 40 years ago.
