Södra Älvstranden – a new city district in Gothenburg
Sustainable construction and refurbishment project in Gothenburg being run by ÅF
An old area of the city of Gothenburg called Skeppsbron is being transformed from a semi-industrial port area into a model of ecological and social sustainability, where green roofs and solar panels will be a natural part of the landscape along Sweden's west coast.
Large parts of Skeppsbron are used as parking spaces today, but ÅF will play an important role in the refurbishment. The idea is to transform the area into its own city district with residential buildings, office spaces and an exciting array of shops and restaurants.
The client has requested that construction assessments for sound and vibrations be made and ÅF also investigated noise from construction. This has helped reduce the disruptive effect that the construction activities have on the surrounding area.
