National museum with world-class audio
Swedish National Museum braces for state-of-the-art renovations.
The Swedish National Museum in Stockholm is nearly 150 years old and just like buildings of a smiliar age, it needs occassionally to be refurbished.
The National Property Board of Sweden, which operates the museum, has selected ÅF to update its fire protection and security standards. The renovation means ÅF must also make sure equipment in the building is silent and non-visible. Its also calls for using the museum atrium as a venue for lectures.
Room acoustic calculations as well as auralisation assessment, as way to simulate how it will sound once the renovation is finished. Renovations for the National Museum are scheduled for completion in 2017.
