Renewed trust in Hallandsås
Hallandsås railway tunnel project to connect cities requires vast array of engineering skills.
Building a nine-kilometer-long railway tunnel connecting the port city of Gothenberg with Lund in southern Sweden is a highly technical and complex job.
The assignment called for the detailed infrastructure design of tracks, power and signalling. All of those design functions were then put through a digital facility model.
ÅF's pool of experience also meant that it was trusted to conduct additional tasks within the project, which included the design and delivery of tender specifications and detailed design documentation for new stations and signalling systems.
As an engineering and consulting company with expertise in the industrial and infrastructure markets, ÅF was also able to complete an investigation and detailed design for a new radio communications system in the railway tunnels through Hallandsås.
The railway through Hallandsås will open for traffic in December 2015.
