Mall of Scandinavia shortlisted for MIPIM award.

Created in 1991, the MIPIM Awards is an internationally-renowned real estate competition. The MIPIM Awards honour the most outstanding and accomplished projects, completed or yet to be built, around the world. 230 projects from 42 countries participated in this years’ competition. Mall of Scandinavia is shortlisted to receive an award in the ‘Best Shopping Centre’ category.

ÅF Lighting’s team has designed the lighting for all public spaces throughout the building, from the functional illumination of the underground parking spaces to the extravagant light features in entrances, piazzas and along walkways.

A spectacular 3D pixel ceiling, consisting of 3200 suspended two metre luminous poles, covers an eighty by eight meter atrium in the Dining Experience area. The changeable installation adds colour and movement, in order to stimulate the senses and entice shoppers to linger and return.

The lighting concept for the Mall of Scandinavia is inspired by the natural qualities of Nordic light and by the Scandinavian design tradition. The lighting design reflects natural daylight changes. Featuring great variety in terms of contrast and colour, it ranges from the powerful to the diffused, from the subtle to the extravagant.

The opening of the mall in November 2015 was the culmination of a five year close cooperation between ÅF Lighting and Wingårdh Architects.

The winner of the MIPIM award will be announced on the 17th of March at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
