ÅF Inspection Division is a Notified Body in the rail sector
For conventional rail systems within the subsystems:
- Traffic control and signaling.
For high-speed rail systems and high-speed trains within the subsystems:
- Infrastructure
- Power supply
- Traffic control and signaling
ÅF as a Notified Body
ÅF has extensive experience as a Notified Body and possesses recognised expertise in rail systems.
ÅF guarantees independence by virtue of the fact that the Notified Body is organised under ÅF-Inspection, the ÅF Group’s Inspection Division, which has many years’ experience of third-party inspections and a well-established set of routines. Each assignment is performed by technical experts from the ÅF Group who have a solid background of experience of railway technical systems. These attributes confirm our conviction that we are a reliable partner in helping our clients to realise their goal of “an approved subsystem”.
Certificate of Compliance
Before infrastructure or technical systems can be made operational, approval must first be secured, based on the Certificate of Compliance issued by ÅF-Inspection. This certificate can then be used to draw up an EC inspection declaration for subsequent presentation to the relevant railway authority. The purpose of the approval is twofold: partly to ensure that different subsystems can, in practice, be used interoperably without any inherent risk of damage or injury, and partly to ensure compliance with the relevant safety criteria in railway law.
