There are several purposes to save energy than what people think. It is possible to keep costs down from the outset and find cost-effective solutions at the system and planning stage, and at every other stage of the building process. However, the greatest savings are to be made when things are up and running. A survey of energy consumption, together with a few adjustments, can be all it takes.
Working with you, we can identify what it will take to ensure that your building uses no more energy than it really needs, step by step, from analysis to implementation and follow-up.
What is Energy Mapping?
Energy mapping means a thorough examination of energy use in a building, the purpose being to get an overview of the energy use in every part of the building. The energy use is identified and evaluated to find improvement areas. The following steps are included:
- Gathering of statistics for energy use
- Measurement and logging of high energy use
- Analyzing and comparisons of statistics and measurement
- Estimation of key figures (for example kWh/m2 and l/s, m2
- Developing plans for initiatives with a qualitative evaluation of economy cuts
Why is there a need of Energy Mapping?
Through energy mapping you increase the knowledge of how your building is using energy. Initiatives can be implemented to achieve energy savings and economical profit, in addition to a better indoor climate in the building. Energy mapping often identifies initiatives that can reduce energy costs by 20-30%.
Energy Mapping – a step towards a sustainable society
Energy mapping is an effective method to localize faults and defects in the energy use, the energy that is unnecessarily year after year. Through reducing energy use, one also reduces the negative effects on the environment.
Example (from Scandinavia)
If a building at 5000 m2 that uses 220kWh/ m2 every year gains energy savings at 20%, this represents savings worth 200.000 NOK/year. That is also a reduction of carbon dioxide of 97 tons per year, and equals the yearly consumption of 38 cars.
