For the most part, managing risks consists of the following elements:
- Identify, characterize, and assess risks
- Assess the vulnerability of critical assets to specific risks
- Determine and analyze the risk (i.e. the expected consequences and probability of specific types of scenarios on specific assets)
- Risk evaluation (prioritize which risks need treatment and the priority for treatment implementation)
