Today’s society produces hazardous radioactive wastes and it is our responsibility to implement a sustainable solution for their long-term safekeeping. Currently, the most advanced approach involves the enclosure in deep geological repositories. This setting requires that particular care is given to groundwater, a most prominent means of transport for radionuclides from below ground to our human environment.

Looking at the positive attributes of groundwater, we aim for the sustainable management of this resource by solving specific issues of groundwater protection and its thermal utilization. Examples of project work include the minimization of impacts due to tunnelling, mining, road construction and stream renaturation.
